Tissot Watches

Founded in 1853, Charles-Felicien Tissot – a gold fitter, and his son Charles-Emile – a watchmaker collaborated to form the “Charles-Felicien Tissot & Son” watch shop and assembly in Le Locle, Switzerland. Tissot watches became known for their gold watches that were expertly decorated, and featured precise movements, which were given accolades at both national, international exhibitions, and chronometry events. Famed actress Sarah Bernhardt was even noted to buy a Tissot pendant watch at the 1900 world fair. Though many Tissot watches were sold in the US, Tissot expanded into Russia where their watches were sought by the Russian nobility before and after the revolution. Today, the Tissot brand is owned by the Swatch Group, and has done very well with the T-Collection.
